USA: Donald Trump Survives Assassination Attempt During Election Rally

Butler (PA)/New Delhi, 14th July 2024: Former US President Donald Trump was attacked during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. The incident occurred while Trump was speaking on stage when the sound of a gunshot reverberated through the crowd. Trump immediately put his hand on his right ear and bent down in apparent pain. US Secret Service agents quickly moved to shield him.

 

As agents assisted Trump, blood was visible on his face and ear. Despite the injury, Trump managed to clench his fist and wave it in the air before being swiftly escorted off the stage and into a waiting vehicle. The incident took place at 4 a.m. IST on Sunday, which was 6:30 p.m. on Saturday evening in the United States.

 

The Secret Service has confirmed that the attacker was neutralized and killed. One Trump supporter lost their life in the attack, and another person was injured.

 

In response to the attack, US President Joe Biden has cut short his election tour and is returning to Washington, D.C. He has called an emergency meeting with Homeland Security and the Law Enforcement Agency at the White House.

 

This incident comes as the United States prepares for its presidential elections in November. Donald Trump, the Republican Party’s candidate, was in Pennsylvania for an election rally at the time of the attack.

 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has condemned the attack on Trump. “Deeply concerned by the attack on my friend, former President Donald Trump. Strongly condemn the incident. Violence has no place in politics and democracies. Wish him speedy recovery. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of the deceased, those injured and the American people”, he tweeted.
