Loni Kalbhor, 13th July 2024: A fake doctor who has been practising medicine for the past five years has been arrested in the Loni Kalbhor area. The arrested individual, identified as Prakash Ranganath Torane (age 63, resident of Loni Kalbhor and native of Ahmednagar), is only a 10th-pass. The case was registered against him following a complaint filed by Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) officer Dr. Rupali Raghunath Bhangale (age 38, resident of Hadapsar).

Torane operated a public service clinic in Loni Kalbhor where he treated numerous patients, many of whom sought medical care due to health issues exacerbated by climate change. Concerns were raised when a citizen informed the PMC Health Department that Torane lacked a legitimate medical degree.

Following this tip-off, a Health Department team inspected Torane’s clinic, which prominently displayed his name but did not mention any medical qualifications. This raised suspicions, leading to a further investigation by Health Department officials. It was discovered that Torane was not registered with the Maharashtra Medical Council and had only completed his 10th-standard education.

Authorities found that Torane had been running his medical practice in Loni Kalbhor for the past five years, treating a wide range of illnesses, including epidemic diseases. Patients frequently lined up at his clinic, where he provided treatment to thousands over the years. Assistant Police Inspector Pawar of Loni Kalbhor Police Station is leading the investigation into this case.
