London, 12th July 2024: Legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar paid tribute to England’s James Anderson as the fast bowler concluded his illustrious career on Friday. Anderson, who retired after a career spanning over two decades, saw his final match end with England’s convincing victory over the West Indies in the first Test at The Lord’s.

The 41-year-old Anderson, who accumulated 704 wickets in 188 Tests, including 32 five-wicket hauls, was celebrated by Tendulkar on his ‘X’ account. Tendulkar remarked, “Hey Jimmy! Your incredible 22-year career has left a lasting impression. It’s been a pleasure to watch you bowl with such skill—your action, speed, accuracy, swing, and fitness have been truly inspiring.”

Tendulkar, who himself retired in 2013, wished Anderson a fulfilling post-cricket life. “May you enjoy good health and happiness in this new chapter with your family, as you step away from the demands of professional cricket,” Tendulkar added.

Anderson reciprocated the admiration, previously naming Tendulkar as the “best batter” he faced. “Sachin Tendulkar stands out as the greatest batter I bowled against. I never had a specific game plan against him; he was the kind of player who demanded perfection,” Anderson had shared with Sky Sports. “He was a crucial wicket for India. Dismissing him could change the entire atmosphere of the game.”

Throughout his career, Anderson claimed 149 wickets in 39 Tests against India, including six five-wicket hauls. In contrast, Tendulkar scored 2,535 runs in 32 Tests against England, averaging 51.73, with seven centuries and 13 fifties.
