Pune: Farmers Fear For Their Lives After Video Of IAS Puja Khedkar’s Mother Brandishing Pistol Goes Viral, Police To Register Case

Pune/Mulshi, 12th July 2024: A video of Manorama Khedkar, the mother of controversial trainee IAS officer Puja Khedkar, has gone viral since this morning. In the video, she can be seen brandishing a pistol and arguing with farmers. Her bodyguards (bouncers) were also present.
According to Pune rural police officials, the incident took place in Ghodwali village in Mulshi taluka on 5th June 2023. Puja Khedkar owns land there and has given power of attorney to her mother to manage the property. “The land in dispute is owned by four farmers. However, the Khedkars connived with one of them and bought a portion of the land which is near their (Khedkars) land. As the matter is under litigation, the other farmers didn’t want the Khedkars to undertake any activity on the disputed land. This led to arguments many times. In the first week of June last year, Manorama Khedkar arrived with her bouncers. She threatened an elderly farmer by pointing a pistol at his head. After this, there was an argument, and videos were recorded,” one of the farmers told Punekar News.
Taking cognizance of the viral video, Superintendent of Police (Pune rural) Pankaj Deshmukh met the farmer. “The concerned farmer has gone to Paud police station to record his statement. Further action will be taken based on his statement. Earlier, the farmer had not lodged a complaint about being threatened with a pistol,” Deshmukh told mediapersons.

He also informed that police are gathering information about the pistol brandished by Manorama Khedkar.
