Pune, 10th July 2024: Director Anurag Kashyap’s daughter, Alia Kashyap, has stirred controversy with her comments on the upcoming wedding of Mukesh Ambani’s son Anant to Radhika Merchant. Alia, known for her active presence on social media, described the Ambani wedding as a ‘circus’, criticizing the extravagant nature of the celebrations.

The Ambani family is currently immersed in festive preparations as Anant, the younger son of Mukesh Ambani, prepares to tie the knot with his longtime girlfriend Radhika Merchant on July 12. Festivities have commenced at the Ambani residence, with ceremonies including Mamero, Sangeet, and Haldi already taking place. The upcoming Mehendi ceremony, where Radhika will adorn Anant’s name on her hands, is eagerly anticipated.

Several renowned personalities from Bollywood and beyond have graced the Ambani celebrations, adding to the grandeur of the event. Amidst this, Alia Kashyap’s comments have gained significant traction. Speaking on her broadcast channel ‘Gup Shup with Kashyap’, she remarked, “At this time, the Ambani wedding has become a circus rather than a wedding.”

Alia’s candid social media post further emphasized her stance, stating, “I was invited to some functions because apparently, they were doing PR, but I refused because I wanted to believe I have a bit more self-respect than to sell myself for someone’s wedding. People have so much money that they don’t know what to do with it.”

Alia’s Personal Life

Last year, Alia Kashyap, aged 23, got engaged to her boyfriend Shane Gregoire in a traditional ceremony. Expressing her happiness at being engaged at a young age, Alia recently announced plans for two weddings with Shane, scheduled for 2025.

Alia’s comments have sparked discussions about the ostentatious nature of high-profile weddings in India, reflecting broader societal views on extravagance and values.
