Pune, 10th July 2024: Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) Commissioner Dr. Rajendra Bhosale has issued orders to all zonal offices to immediately clear encroachments on 46 roads designated as ‘no hawkers’ zones in Pune city. This action comes in response to widespread encroachments and unauthorized constructions on busy city roads.

Instructions have also been given to submit weekly reports on the progress of these removals. Pune MP and Minister of State, Muralidhar Mohol, directed the PMC administration to carry out these clearances promptly, emphasizing that no external pressures should influence the process. Following this directive, Commissioner Dr. Bhosale instructed all ward offices to initiate the necessary actions.

Commissioner Dr. Bhosale stated that ward officers, in collaboration with the Encroachment Department, have been tasked with removing encroachments and unauthorized vendors from the identified ‘no hawkers’ zones and other busy roads. Additional manpower will be allocated to support these efforts, particularly since there was a temporary shortage of personnel due to the Lok Sabha elections.

Psychometric Career Assessment Test

With the ongoing property tax discount survey causing staffing challenges, Commissioner Dr. Bhosale assured that employees would soon be reassigned to bolster the encroachment removal efforts. The initial phase will focus on clearing encroachments from footpaths and roads within the designated ‘no hawkers’ zones as determined in the General Meeting. Additionally, illegal vendors operating on busy roads and footpaths will also be targeted for removal.
