MNGL Announces Increase In CNG Price In Pune
Pune, 9th July 2024: Maharashtra Natural Gas Limited (MNGL) has announced an upward revision in the retail price of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) for the vehicular segment in Pune, including Pimpri-Chinchwad and the adjoining areas of Chakan, Talegaon, and Hinjewadi. Effective from 9th/10th July 2024, the CNG retail selling price will be increased by ₹1.50 per kilogram (including taxes), bringing the new price to ₹85.0 per kilogram.
MNGL cites the rising input costs of natural gas as the primary reason for the price hike. “In order to cater to the increasing consumption of CNG and due to a shortfall in domestic natural gas allocation, additional market-priced gas, including higher-priced imported gas, is being sourced. This has resulted in an increase in the input cost of natural gas for the CNG segment,” an MNGL spokesperson explained.
To partially offset these increased costs, MNGL has deemed it necessary to revise the CNG price upward by approximately 2 percent. Despite this marginal increase, MNGL assures that CNG remains a cost-effective option for consumers. “CNG still offers attractive savings of around 50% compared to petrol and about 28% compared to diesel at current price levels in Pune city for the passenger car segment and around 29% for auto-rickshaws,” the spokesperson added.
MNGL also confirmed that the prices of Domestic Piped Natural Gas (PNG) will remain unchanged.
“We request all our esteemed customers to please take note of the said price revision,” stated MNGL in its press release.
