Pune: Fraudsters Promise 1000% Returns, Dupe Pimpri Chinchwad Resident of Nearly Rs 1 Crore
Punawale, 9th July 2024: In Pimpri Chinchwad, a man was duped of almost Rs 1 crore. The fraudsters told him he could earn 1000% returns in just 100 days. The contact was initiated through social media. This incident happened in Punawale from 2nd April to 8th May this year.
A 31-year-old resident of Punawale has filed a complaint at Ravet Police Station. Ravet Police have registered a case against Parekh Dhruv under IPC section 420 (dishonestly inducing delivery of property) and relevant sections of the Information Technology Act of 2000.
According to police reports, on 2nd April, the accused Dhruv contacted the complainant through social media. He gained his trust and asked him to invest large sums of money, promising a 1000% return in 100 days. The complainant sent Rs 96,57,000 to various accounts of the accused. After 100 days, the complainant neither received the returns nor the invested amount and reported the incident to the police. Senior Police Inspector Mahendra Kadam from Ravet Police Station is investigating the matter further.
