Pune: Bank Employee Accused in Fraudulent Gold Loan Scheme

Wakad, 8th July 2024: An incident involving the pledging of fake gold for a loan exceeding Rs. 10 lakh has come to light in Pimpri Chinchwad. The gold inspection employee of the bank allegedly assisted in this fraudulent scheme. As a result, a case has been registered against six people, including the bank employee. This incident occurred at the Buldhana Urban Co-operative Credit Society’s Kalewadi Branch from March 2023 to March 2024.

A woman employee of the bank filed a complaint at Wakad Police Station. The police have registered a case against Sachin Pimprikar (age 45, resident of Kalewadi), Anusaya Bhadade (age 32, resident of Thergaon), Sanjay Nelge (age 45, resident of Kalewadi), Dilip Dhariya (age 69, resident of Rahatani), Manda Thorat (age 40, resident of Thergaon), and Sunita Raksale (age 44, resident of Thergaon) under IPC Sections 409 (criminal breach of trust by public servant, or by banker, merchant or agent), 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention).

According to police reports, accused Sachin Pimprikar, who works as a gold inspector at the Kalewadi branch of the Buldhana Urban Co-operative Credit Society, colluded with the other accused to submit fake gold ornaments weighing 35.03 tolas. These fake ornaments were presented to the bank as genuine, based on which the bank approved a loan of Rs. 10,42,000. The bank was thus deceived into providing the loan. Police Sub Inspector Pote from Wakad Police Station is investigating the matter further.
