Pimpri Chinchwad: Journalist Run Over by Truck in Front of Decathlon Wakad
Wakad, 8th July 2024: A truck ran over a person in front of Decathlon Wakad in Pimpri Chinchwad, resulting in his death. This incident occurred on the Mumbai-Bengaluru Highway’s Katraj-Dehu Road Bypass section on Sunday night. His wife has sustained serious injuries.
The deceased has been identified as Sharad Vasant Gaikwad, age 42, a resident of Chinchwad. He worked as a journalist with the Live 24 Bulletin channel.
Senior Police Inspector Nivrutti Kolhatkar of Wakad Police Station reported that Gaikwad was crossing the road with his wife from Shani Mandir in Tathawade to Decathlon Wakad when a truck coming from Mumbai ran over him, resulting in his instant death.
The driver has been detained by police.
