Mumbai/Pune, 6th July 2024: Residents of Pune and Mumbai face a price hike for cow milk as Gokul Milk Kolhapur has raised the price by Rs 2 per litre, effective from 1st July. This increase affects only these two cities, where Gokul Milk is highly sought after.

The decision to increase prices is driven by rising costs and losses in milk powder production. Gokul Milk Kolhapur aims to benefit producers and the union through this adjustment. Despite the hike, there has been no noticeable impact on milk sales, which continue as usual, with a potential rise in demand anticipated.

However, concerns remain about whether this price increase will genuinely benefit farmers. Many farmers feel they are not receiving adequate compensation, especially given the rising costs of fodder and animal feed. While milk companies are raising prices, farmers worry about not seeing corresponding increases in their earnings.

There is no change in the sales rate in the rest of Maharashtra.
