Pune Police Recapture Female Thief in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar After Custody Escape

Hadapsar, 6th July 2024: A woman arrested on 2nd July for stealing ornaments and other items from devotees during the Sant Shreshta Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Palkhi Ceremony procession managed to escape police custody on 3rd July. Pune Police have now rearrested her in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.

The thief has been identified as Dhurpata Ashok Bhosale, 31, a resident of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. Due to her escape, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 5) R. Raja suspended a female constable from Hadapsar Police Station. According to sources, the thief managed to escape due to the constable’s lack of attention.

Police reports indicate that after Bhosale escaped, police reviewed CCTV footage in the area, which showed her traveling to Mundhwa in an auto-rickshaw and then heading towards Nagar Road. Police suspected she might have gone to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. Consequently, a team from Pune Police went to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and arrested Bhosale in Takali village.
