Collision Involving Trailer, Gas Tanker, and Car Transport Container Claims Life on Mumbai Pune Expressway
Mumbai/Pune, 5th July 2024: This morning, a fatal accident occurred in a tunnel on the Yashwantrao Chavan Expressway (Mumbai Pune Expressway), involving a trailer container, a gas tanker, and a car transport container. The driver of the gas tanker lost his life at the scene. The incident took place near Khopoli in the tunnel, with all three vehicles heading towards Mumbai around 7 AM.
The deceased has been identified as Akshay Vyankatrao Dhele (30 years old, resident of Latur). The driver of the car transport container has reportedly absconded. The accident falls under the jurisdiction of Khopoli Police Station, where the process of case registration is currently underway.
The deceased’s body has been transferred to Khopoli Municipal Council Hospital. Rescue operations were supported by IRB Patrolling, Devdoot System, Delta Force, and Maharashtra Security Force. Officials from Highway Police, Borghat Police Station, and Khopoli Police Station promptly responded to manage traffic at the site.
