Pune Police Arrest Two Youths Seen Consuming Drugs at L3 Pub on FC Road, NDPS Charges Added

Shivajinagar, 25th June 2024: The Pune Police have detained two youths in connection with drug use at L3 – Liquid Leisure Lounge on FC Road, Shivajinagar, Pune. The incident, captured on video, shows the two consuming drugs in the pub’s bathroom. One youth was detained in Pune, while the other was apprehended in Mumbai by the Pune Crime Branch.

The youths, Nitin Thombare and Karan Mishra, have been charged for offences under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 1) Sandeep Singh Gill told Punekar News.

Police suspect that minors might also have been involved in drug consumption at the pub. To confirm their suspicions, police will collect and examine blood samples from the detained individuals. Preliminary reports indicate that the detained youths are friends who entered L3 Pub around 1:30 AM.

Following the incident, the Pune Municipal Corporation’s anti-encroachment department has initiated action against illegal structures outside the hotel and pub on Ferguson College Road. This move comes after Chief Minister Eknath Shinde ordered a crackdown on encroachments in the area.

In the wake of the drug scandal at L3 Pub, four officers from the Pune Police Force and two from the State Excise Department have been suspended. The suspended police officers include Police Inspector (Crime) Anil Mane, Assistant Police Inspector Dinesh Patil, Police Constable Gorakh Dohifode, and Police Constable Ashok Adsul from Shivajinagar Police Station. Additionally, Inspector Vitthal Bobde and Sub-Inspector Anant Patil from the state excise department have been suspended.
