Sinhagad, 23rd June 2024: The road leading to the world-famous Sinhagad Fort in Pune had to be closed frequently due to traffic jams and landslides, causing inconvenience for tourists. To address this issue, plans are now underway to construct a 1.8 km long ropeway at Sinhagad Fort. The project is set to commence soon, enabling tourists to reach the fort in just four to five minutes.

Sinhagad Fort, a popular tourist destination near Pune city, sees heavy rush, especially during the monsoon season and on weekends and holidays. Currently, tourists must navigate a narrow ghat road prone to landslides, necessitating periodic closures lasting 10 to 15 days, which inconveniences visitors.

Previously just an idea, the ropeway project at Sinhagad Fort is now moving into the implementation phase. This development promises to significantly ease access for tourists. The ropeway, to be operated by a private company, has received all necessary approvals. It will transport approximately 100 tourists per hour from Atkarwadi to the fort near the Doordarshan TV Tower.

Officials have confirmed that preparations for the project are in place, marking a substantial step toward enhancing visitor experience and accessibility to the historic Sinhagad Fort.
