Six Suspects Face Charges After Talegaon Dabhade Shooting Incident

Talegaon Dabhade, 22nd June 2024: A group of six individuals opened fire at four locations on Thursday evening (20th), creating an atmosphere of fear in Talegaon Dabhade town. A case has been registered against the suspects following the incident.

Police Constable Anand Mohite filed a complaint at the Talegaon Dabhade Police Station regarding the incident. The case has been registered against Rohan alias Chikya Uttam Shinde (resident of Talegaon), Vicky Kharade, and four other unknown individuals under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC): 308 (attempt to commit culpable homicide), 143 (punishment for unlawful assembly), 144 (joining unlawful assembly armed with a deadly weapon), 147 (punishment for rioting), 148 (rioting, armed with a deadly weapon), 149 (every member of unlawful assembly guilty of offense committed in prosecution of common object), as well as relevant sections of the Arms Act, Criminal Law Amendment Act, and Maharashtra Police Act.

According to the police, Chikya Shinde and his accomplices opened fire at Gajanan Chowk, Shukla Chowk, Rajendra Chowk, and Maruti Mandir Chowk in Talegaon Dabhade town. The accused fired intending to create terror in the town, and all of them fled after the shooting.

Upon receiving information about the incident, Additional Commissioner of Police Vasant Pardeshi, Deputy Commissioner of Police Bapu Bangar, Assistant Commissioner of Police Devidas Gheware, Senior Police Inspector Pradeep Rayannawar, and Police Sub-Inspector Ashok Kokate visited the scene. The shooting was captured by CCTV cameras at roadside shops, and the police have obtained the CCTV footage from the area. Currently, efforts are underway to trace the accused, and the Talegaon Dabhade police are conducting the investigation.
