Pune, 22nd June 2024: Pune’s Regional Transport Office (RTO) is set to cancel the trade certificates of eleven vehicle dealers for selling vehicles to customers without registration. Show cause notices were issued by the Pune RTO to these dealers, prompting responses from some but not all. Among the eleven dealers, five are located in Pune, while the others are based in different cities. The Pune RTO has directed RTO offices in other cities to take appropriate actions against the concerned dealers, while it will handle actions against Pune-based sellers itself.

The decision to initiate these actions follows a vehicle inspection drive launched by the Pune RTO after the Kalyani Nagar Porsche incident, during which eleven unregistered two-wheelers were found in operation by the Pune RTO Flying Squad. Sellers were given a seven-day deadline to respond following the notices. As per the Motor Vehicle Act, the Pune RTO will proceed with actions against the five dealers who failed to comply within the stipulated time frame. The duration of these actions, whether for seven, 15, or 21 days, has not yet been finalized.

The following dealers have received notices:

– The Shelar TVS, Kharadi
– Kunal Enterprises, Kondhwa
– Yamaha Motor Showroom – Satav Automotive, Hadapsar
– Kothari Wheels Honda, Kondhwa
– PR Automotive, Manjari

Actions that may be taken include the cancellation of trade certificates, which prohibits dealers from selling vehicles during the specified cancellation period. Additionally, their login IDs at the RTO office will be blocked, preventing further vehicle sales. This marks the first instance of such actions being undertaken by the Pune RTO, generating considerable discussion within the community.
