Dry Days Announced in Pune for Saint Tukaram and Sant Dnyaneshwar Palkhi Processions
Pune, 22nd June 2024: Jagatguru Sant Tukaram’s Palkhi will depart on 28th June, while Santshreshta Dnyaneshwar Maharaj’s Palkhi will leave on 29th June, both heading towards Pandharpur. In this context, Pune District Collector Dr. Suhas Diwase has declared a Dry Day. The areas through which the Palkhi processions will pass on those days will observe a Dry Day. Additionally, the Pune District Collector has instructed the Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad police to close locations where there is a possibility of illegal gatherings.
Tukaram Maharaj’s Palkhi will depart towards Pandharpur from Dehu Gaon on 28th June. That night, the Palkhi will stay at Inamdar Saheb Wada. On 29th June, as the Palkhi proceeds towards Pimpri Chinchwad, there will be a Dry Day in the Dehu Gaon area.
The second halt of this Palkhi procession will be at Vitthal Mandir, Akurdi. As a result, on the 29th and 30th of June, there will be a Dry Day under the jurisdiction of the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation’s Akurdi Ward Office. The third halt of the Palkhi will be at Shri Nivdunga Vitthal Mandir in Nana Peth under the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) area. As a result, on 30th June and 1st July, there will be a Dry Day in the Nana Peth Ward jurisdiction.
After that, the Palkhi will stay at Loni Kalbhor, Yawat, Varvand, Undawadi, Baramati, Sansar, Anthurne, Nimgaon Ketki, Indapur, and Sarati. On those dates, there will be a Dry Day in each area according to Palkhi’s schedule.
Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj’s Palkhi will depart from Alandi on June 29th. The first stop will be at Gandhi Wada in Alandi. On June 29th and 30th, there will be a Dry Day in the Alandi Municipal Council area.
The second stop of the Palkhi will be at Palkhi Vithoba Mandir in Bhawani Peth, Pune. Therefore, June 30th and July 1st will be Dry Days in the Bhawani Peth Ward area. Subsequent stops will be at Saswad, Jejuri, and Walhe. After that, the Palkhi will enter Satara district. The order states that there will be a Dry Day at each place of stay and up to two hours after the departure of the Palkhi.
