Mumbai/Pune, 19th June 2024: The number of citizens traveling between Pune and Mumbai is significant. Many employees reside in Mumbai for work and return to Pune for weekend vacations, commuting back to Mumbai on Monday mornings. To cater to these passengers, the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) has launched the Swargate to Mantralaya Shivneri bus service.

This Shivneri bus will depart from Swargate every Monday at 6 AM and from Mantralaya every Friday at 6:30 PM, offering service twice a week. This schedule is designed to accommodate employees living in Mumbai who travel to Pune over weekends. The route of this Shivneri bus includes the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (Atal Setu), which connects Mumbai and Navi Mumbai, thereby reducing travel distance. MSRTC buses have already started operating on this route, and the Pune to Dadar service via Atal Setu has been well-received.

Employees of Mantralaya had requested a direct bus from Swargate to Mantralaya, prompting the initiation of this service to meet their demand. Additionally, there is already a daily Hirkani bus running on this route. The introduction of the Shivneri service will significantly enhance convenience for passengers commuting to work in this area, including those employed at the Ministry.

Moreover, there is a 50% discount on bus tickets for women and senior citizens aged 65 to 75. The service is free for senior citizens above 75 years. Passengers can book tickets for this service on the MSRTC website and mobile app, as informed by MSRTC Pune Divisional Controller Pramod Nehool.
