Pune: 3 Citizens Assaulted With Rods Early Morning in Aundh; Police Clueless About Robbers
Aundh, 13th June 2024: In Pune, incidents of robbery involving threats with weapons are on the rise. Early this morning in Aundh, a gang of six individuals assaulted three people with an iron rod in an attempted robbery. Police reported that two of the victims, including a senior citizen, sustained serious injuries and are currently receiving treatment at a private hospital. The incident occurred near Poorvika Mobiles Shop in Aundh.
Shreyas Satish Shetty (age 30, resident of Khadki) has filed a complaint at Chaturshringi Police Station. A case has been registered under IPC sections 397 (Robbery, or dacoity, with an attempt to cause death or grievous hurt), 307 (Attempt to murder), and 341 (Punishment for wrongful restraint), along with the Maharashtra Police Act of 1951, against the gang of unidentified assailants. Ramsobi Kumar Mandal (38, resident of Parihar Chowk, Aundh) and Samir Roy Choudhary (77, resident of Aundh) are the seriously injured victims currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Aundh due to their critical condition.
According to the police report, Shreyas Shetty was commuting to work on his bicycle around 5:15 am when four individuals, aged between 20 and 25, intercepted him near Poorvika Mobiles Shop in Aundh. They attempted to rob Shetty of his Activa two-wheeler. When Shetty stated he had no money, one of the assailants tried to forcibly access his pocket, prompting Shetty to resist. In retaliation, one of the attackers struck Shetty on the head with a rod, which he managed to block with his hand.
The complainant attempted to flee, but when he looked back, the assailants attacked another person at Mangalam Construction. Additional accomplices of the assailants arriving in a rickshaw also joined in the assault. They fled the scene using a rickshaw and an Activa. Following the incident, Shreyas Shetty went to a private hospital for treatment, where Sameer Chaudhary, who had been attacked by the assailants before Shetty, was also admitted and undergoing treatment. Chaudhary’s condition is critical after the assailants attempted to kill him by beating him with a rod. Ramsobit Kumar Mandal is also receiving medical treatment for injuries sustained during the attack at Mangalam Construction.
Upon receiving notification of the incident, Additional Commissioner of Police (East Region) Manoj Patil, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 4) Vijay Kumar Magar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Amol Zende, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Khadki Division) Aarti Bansode, Senior Police Inspector of Chaturshringi Police Station Ajay Kulkarni, Police Inspector of Crime Branch Unit Four Ganesh Mane, Police Inspector (Crime) Yuvraj Nandre, Assistant Police Inspector Narendra Patil, Rajkumar Kendra, and Police Sub Inspector Sachin Jadhav visited the scene of the crime. Police Inspector (Crime) Yuvraj Nandre is overseeing further investigation into the incident.
