Pune Woman Flung After Being Hit by Speeding Car; Hinjawadi Police Release Driver Due to 'Absence of Complaint'

Hinjawadi, 12th June 2024: Hinjawadi Police Station (Pimpri Chinchwad police) had released the driver involved in an accident due to the absence of an “official” complaint, sparking significant public outrage.

The incident gained traction after CCTV footage went viral, showing the woman being flung in air after being hit by the car, which then crashed into a nearby shop. Finally, a case related to the incident has been registered at Hinjawadi Police Station. The incident occurred at Bhujbal Chowk in Wakad on 23rd May around 4:30 PM.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 2) Bapu Bangar told Punekar News, “The woman involved in this accident isn’t a local resident and lives in Mumbai. After the accident, she received medical care and then went to Mumbai. We contacted her, she came today, and a case was registered today.”

Akansha Sanjay Singh Pardeshi was injured in this incident. Her brother, Utkarsh Sanjay Singh Pardeshi (age 23, resident of Mumbai), filed a complaint at Hinjawadi Police Station. A case has been registered against the car driver, Tushar Nemade, under IPC Sections 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way), 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others), and relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act of 1988.

According to police reports, the complainant’s sister was hit by a car on 23rd May around 4:30 PM while she was walking. The driver was recklessly driving, ignoring traffic rules. He hit the complainant’s sister from the back, causing injuries. After about 20 days, the complainant arrived at Hinjawadi Police Station to register a case.
