Ajit Pawar Halts Pune-Nashik Expressway Land Survey Due To Farmers Opposition

Pune/Nashik, 12th June 2024: The Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Ajit Pawar, has made significant revelations about the proposed Pune-Nashik Expressway. Today, in Mumbai, a cabinet meeting was held with multiple ministers of the Maharashtra State Government in attendance.

The Pune-Nashik Expressway is slated to traverse through the areas of Khed, Shirur, Ambegaon, and Junnar talukas. However, farmers in these areas are vehemently opposing the construction of this road. In response to this opposition, the Minister of Cooperation (Maharashtra), Dilip Walse Patil, requested Ajit Pawar to organize a meeting in the presence of officials. DCM Pawar made a major announcement regarding this expressway.

Pawar stated, “The survey for the Pune-Nashik expressway is underway. However, the acquisition of farming lands on a large scale for this expressway has led to opposition from the people’s representatives and farmers in these areas. The concerns of the farmers will be duly considered. The survey of this expressway will be halted, and after discussions with Chief Minister of Maharashtra Eknath Shinde, an alternate route for the expressway will be selected.”

Pawar further added, “I have instructed all officials to immediately cease all processes initiated for this expressway. Walse Patil and I will soon convene a meeting with CM Eknath Shinde. We will attentively listen to the concerns raised by the local people’s representatives regarding the proposed road and the opposition from the community. The current proposal will be scrapped, and we will advocate for an alternative route to address this issue.”
