Malshej Ghat Landslide Kills Two Members of Mumbai Family

Otur, 12th June 2024: A landslide in Malshej Ghat fell on an auto-rickshaw, resulting in the immediate death of two people. One of the victims was a seven-year-old boy. Upon receiving information about the accident, Assistant Police Inspector LG Thate of Otur Police Station arrived at the scene. The victims were identified as Rahul Baban Bhalerao (age 30) and Swayam Sachin Bhalerao (age 7), both residents of Mulund, Mumbai, and natives of Sangamner, Ahmednagar.

According to police reports, the auto-rickshaw with registration number MH 03 DS 3211 was driven by Baban Gopal Bhalerao. Accompanying him were his wife, Vimal Baban Bhalerao; their children, Sachin and Rahul Baban Bhalerao; and their grandson, Swayam Sachin Bhalerao. The family, totaling five members, was traveling from Mulund, Mumbai, to their native place in Chandanapuri in Sangamner Taluka of Ahmednagar District on 11th June.

At around 5-6 PM, the landslide occurred, causing the deaths of Swayam and Rahul on the spot. Vimal sustained an injury to her hand, while Baban and Sachin had minor injuries. They are currently receiving treatment in a hospital.
