Pune, 10th June 2024: Newly elected Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Murlidhar Mohol, representing Mahayuti, has been appointed as a Union Minister in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s third term. Mohol, a former Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) Mayor, took his oath yesterday, though the specific office he will hold was not decided. However, today it has been revealed that Mohol will serve as the Minister of State for Civil Aviation and Cooperation.

With a victory margin of 1.23 lakh votes over Congress’s Ravindra Dhangekar, Mohol was officially announced as a Union Minister yesterday. His appointment marks a significant moment for Pune, as it is the first time since 1986 that a Lok Sabha member from the city has held such a prestigious position in the Union Council of Ministers. Mohol’s rise from a grassroots-level corporator to a ministerial position, without prior experience in the state legislature, highlights his remarkable journey.
