Maharana Pratap, born on May 9, 1540, in Kumbhalgarh, Rajasthan, was a fearless Rajput ruler of Mewar, famed for his determined opposition to Mughal rule. His legacy of valor and devotion to his kingdom continues to inspire future generations.

The Pune celebration began with floral tributes to a portrait of Veer Shiromani Maharana Pratap. This was followed by speeches from the guests of honor, Dilip Singh Hazari and Adv. Pardeshi. They recounted Maharana Pratap’s bravery and heroism in their speeches, aiming to inspire and educate the younger generation about his lasting legacy.

This event’s historical significance traces back to the migration of Rajput clans. Starting from 1400 AD, clans such as Parmar, Solanki, Rathore, Gour, Chauhan, Yadav, Sisodiya, Jadon-Bhati, and Maurya migrated from North India and Rajasthan to Maharashtra and southern parts of India. Over time, the Shekhawat clan also moved to Maharashtra. These clans became known as Rajputs or Maratha Rajputs in Maharashtra, adopting surnames like Rajput, Pardeshi, Girase, and Gour.

Throughout Maharashtra, the Rajput community organizes grand processions and cultural programs to honor Maharana Pratap’s bravery. These events highlight Rajput traditions and instill a sense of pride within the community. Speeches delivered during these occasions emphasize Maharana Pratap’s valor, particularly during the historic Battle of Haldighati in 1576, where he and his warriors fought valiantly against the Mughal forces despite being greatly outnumbered.
