Pune, 7th June 2024: Pune students ranging from 5th to 12th grade will be provided 100% subsidized bus passes by the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Ltd. (PMPML). This initiative will take effect in the upcoming academic year 2024/25. Those attending Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) schools from 5th to 12th grade will receive full exemptions on their bus passes. In contrast, students enrolled in private schools under PMC jurisdiction will benefit from a 75% discount.

PMPML plays a vital role in the city’s transportation network, serving students, employees, senior citizens, and others commuting within Pune, Pimpri Chinchwad, and surrounding areas.

Starting from June 12th, PMC schools can submit application forms to PMPML. These forms, specifying the school name, will be accepted at all bus depots and pass centers citywide. PMC schools or their representatives can gather forms from students and submit them collectively to PMPML. After that, PMPML will issue passes, which can then be distributed to students within the school premises. This streamlined process eliminates the need for students to make additional trips to bus depots.

For private schools under the PMC jurisdiction, following document and form verification, students will enjoy a 75% discount. Upon verification, PMPML will issue challans to these students. Following that, students must present the challan at a Bank of Maharashtra branch within PMC jurisdiction. Provided with the completed forms and the challan, students can then obtain their passes from the nearby bus depot.

As stated on the PMPML website, student passes are priced at Rs. 750 for a monthly pass, Rs. 2,000 for a quarterly pass, Rs. 3,000 for a six-month pass, and Rs. 5,000 for a yearly pass across all routes. PMC school students will enjoy full savings on these amounts, while students from private schools under PMC jurisdiction will benefit from a 75% discount. The PMPML administration strongly encourages all students to participate in this new initiative.
