New Delhi, 8th June 2024: Over 9,000 guests from various sectors of society are set to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister-designate Narendra Modi and his ministerial colleagues at the forecourt lawn of Rashtrapati Bhavan on Sunday.

Sources indicate that a multi-layered security arrangement will be in place, including five companies of paramilitary personnel, National Security Guard (NSG) commandos, drones, and snipers. The national capital will remain on high alert as dignitaries from South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) nations have been invited to the event.

Officials have confirmed that dignitaries will be provided with designated routes from their hotels to the venue and back. Leaders from Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, the Maldives, Bhutan, Nepal, Mauritius, and Seychelles are expected to attend the ceremony.

A police officer stated that the event will feature a three-layered security system both inside and outside Rashtrapati Bhavan. “Approximately 2,500 police personnel, including five companies of paramilitary forces and Delhi Armed Police (DAP) jawans, will be deployed around the venue,” the officer added.

Snipers will be stationed along the routes used by dignitaries, mirroring the security measures implemented during the G20 summit last year, according to another officer.

The extensive security preparations reflect the high-profile nature of the event and the importance of ensuring the safety of the dignitaries and attendees.
