Baramati, 7th June 2024: After the Lok Sabha elections, Mahayuti’s loss in Maharashtra has increased tensions for Ajit Pawar’s Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), which is allied with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena, and others. Ajit Pawar’s NCP won only one of the four contested seats in Maharashtra. While Ajit Pawar secured victory in Raigad, he lost three seats, including his home turf, Baramati. In Baramati, his wife Sunetra Pawar was defeated by Ajit’s sister and Sharad Pawar’s daughter, Supriya Sule, who represented the Sharad Pawar-led NCP in the Mahavikas Aghadi. This defeat in Baramati was significant as it was a key constituency for both Sharad and Ajit Pawar, but ultimately, Sharad Pawar emerged victorious.

There is speculation that some MLAs from Ajit Pawar’s NCP are in contact with Sharad Pawar. These MLAs are concerned due to Mahayuti’s disappointing results in the Maharashtra Lok Sabha elections. Recent statements by Rohit Pawar, a leader from Sharad Pawar’s NCP, have reignited discussions across the state. People are now wondering if there will be another political twist in Maharashtra. There is speculation that 5 to 6 MLAs from Ajit Pawar’s NCP are in contact with Sharad Pawar. However, Karjat Jamkhed MLA Rohit Pawar claimed differently, stating, “Around 19 MLAs from Ajit Pawar’s NCP are in contact with us. They will have to decide within 15 days.”

Rohit Pawar continued, “Sharad Pawar decided the candidates in the constituencies of Ajit Pawar’s NCP ministers. Today, there is only discussion. See what happens in the next 15 days. What will the MLAs say when Dada (Ajit Pawar) and senior leaders are sitting in front of them? They will have to decide within the next 15 days. Sharad Pawar has started preparations for the Vidhan Sabha and has decided on 30 candidates. The candidates from our side are final in the constituencies of leaders from Ajit Pawar’s NCP. How many MLAs from Ajit Pawar’s NCP should be taken back will be decided by Sharad Pawar and Jayant Patil.”

In recent days, banners have appeared suggesting Supriya Sule as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra. On this, Rohit Pawar commented, “Supriya Sule is a leader at the Centre. Her work is more focused there. When Sharad Pawar went to Delhi, Supriya Sule was with him. The NDA’s discussions haven’t been concluded neatly yet, so anything can happen in the coming days.” When asked if he would run against Ajit Pawar in the Vidhan Sabha, Rohit Pawar replied, “I won’t go anywhere. I won’t fight from Baramati. I won’t leave Karjat-Jamkhed. Karjat-Jamkhed gave me my identity and taught me to struggle. Pawar Saheb is the ideal candidate from Baramati.”

In the end, Rohit Pawar said, “The BJP always finishes off small parties. I don’t understand how Raj Thackeray doesn’t get it. I don’t know, but slowly he will. By then, it will be too late, and the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena will be finished.”

Along with Rohit Pawar’s claims, Ajit Pawar-led NCP’s MLC Amol Mitkari also stated that two MLAs from Sharad Pawar’s NCP are in contact with Ajit Pawar. Mitkari claimed that these MLAs said they want to work in their constituency, which is why they want to join Ajit Pawar.

Supriya Sule Visits Ajit Pawar’s Residence Again

After the results of the Baramati Lok Sabha constituency, Supriya Sule visited Ajit Pawar’s Baramati residence again, having previously visited on the day of polling. Sule defeated Ajit Pawar’s wife, Sunetra Pawar, to become the MP for Baramati for the fourth consecutive time. Supriya Sule had visited Ajit Pawar’s residence on the day of polling to meet his mother and Supriya’s aunt, Asha Pawar. This time, the reason was similar as Sule stated, “Before taking on new responsibilities, I have been taught to seek elders’ blessings. That’s why I visited Aunt Asha at HER home.”
