Pune, 7th June 2024: The onset of the monsoon has exposed the inadequate civic infrastructure in Pune, resulting in widespread flooding and waterlogging across the city. In response, the traffic branch of Pune police has compiled and submitted a list of over 100 locations prone to waterlogging, which significantly contributes to traffic congestion.

“We have written many times to the PMC that if waterlogging issues are resolved, there will be minimal traffic disruptions during the rainy season,” said DCP (Traffic) Rohidas Pawar.

The list aims to prompt the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) to take immediate action to address these chronic issues, which have long plagued the city’s commuters during the monsoon months. The identified spots, spread across various parts of the city, have been notorious for causing severe traffic jams whenever there is heavy rainfall.

Residents and daily commuters have repeatedly expressed frustration over the recurring problem, urging the authorities to improve the drainage systems and road conditions to prevent waterlogging. The timely intervention by the traffic police highlights the urgent need for infrastructural upgrades to ensure smoother traffic flow and enhanced public safety during the monsoon season.
