Divorce Fallout Leads to Fatal Stabbing in Pune’s Kasba Peth: Notorious Gangster Maratkar’s Son Detained

Kasba Peth, 7th June 2024: In Pune’s Kasba Peth area, a shocking incident unfolded when the son of gangster Raja Maratkar from Khadki Bazaar killed a young man following his wife’s divorce and remarriage. The accused, along with an accomplice, entered the house and fatally stabbed the youth with a Koyta, resulting in his immediate death. His wife sustained serious injuries.

 

The victim, Sumit Patekar (resident of Kasba Peth), was murdered in this brutal attack. Prajakta Sumit Patekar (age 34, resident of Kasba Peth) filed a complaint at Faraskhana Police Station. Sunny Rajendra Maratkar (of Khadki Bazaar) and his accomplice have been charged with murder and attempted murder. Several individuals were severely injured during the assault.

 

Sumit Patekar and his wife reside in Agarwal Pride Buildings in Kasba Peth. The incident occurred yesterday around 2:30 pm. Sunny, who was divorced from Prajakta, became enraged after her remarriage to Sumit. The assailants barged into the house during a conversation between Prajakta, her mother-in-law, and her husband. Sunny and his accomplice then attacked Sumit with a Koyta. Prajakta attempted to intervene but was also stabbed by Sunny. Sumit succumbed to his injuries on the spot.

 

Upon receiving information about the incident, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 1) Sandeep Singh Gill, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Amol Zende, Assistant Commissioner of Police Ranganath Unde, and Senior Police Inspector Prashant Bhasme visited the scene. The Faraskhana police detained the two accused late in the night. Raja Maratkar, Sunny’s father, was notorious in Khadki Bazaar, with multiple serious criminal cases against him. He was eventually killed in a gang war by Tambi Gose and his associates.
