Pune, 1st June 2024: The Nascent Information Technology Employees Senate (NITES), a prominent organization for IT professionals in India, has called on the Ministry of Labour & Employment to investigate Infosys for allegedly delaying the onboarding of over 2,000 campus recruits for more than two years.

In a letter addressed to the Ministry, Harpreet Singh Saluja, president of NITES, highlighted the severe impact of these delays on the affected employees. “Many of these young professionals had turned down other job offers in good faith, relying on Infosys’s offer letters,” Saluja stated. “Now, they face financial hardship and uncertainty due to the lack of income and a clear onboarding timeline.”

Saluja emphasized that Infosys’s actions represent a serious breach of trust. “They trusted Infosys to provide a smooth transition into their careers, but instead, they’ve been left in limbo,” he remarked. The prolonged delay has not only caused financial strain but also significant mental and emotional stress among the recruits.

NITES has urged the Ministry to take immediate action to address the situation and ensure Infosys fulfills its obligations to its new hires. The key demands outlined by NITES include:

– Compensation: Full salary payments for the period during which onboarding has been delayed.
– Employee Assistance: Immediate access to Infosys’s employee assistance program to support the mental and emotional well-being of the affected recruits.
– Alternative Employment: Active efforts by Infosys to find alternative employment opportunities within the organization if onboarding remains infeasible.

“The well-being and future careers of these young professionals are at stake,” Saluja stressed. “We have requested the Ministry to take swift action to protect these employees and ensure they are not unfairly penalized for Infosys’s decision.”

Note: Infosys has been contacted for a statement and their response will be included once available.
