Pune, 1st June 2024: A centralized online process is being implemented for admission to 25 % reserved seats in private schools under the Right to Education Act (RTE). An extension has been granted until Tuesday (4th June) for filling out the online application form for school admissions of children under this process. The Ministry of School Education has emphasized that this extension is final, and no further extensions will be provided.

This extension brings relief to parents participating in the admission process. According to the RTE, students from economically weaker and disadvantaged sections are granted free admission to 25% reserved seats in private schools. The central admission process is overseen by the Ministry of School Education, which receives over three lakh applications annually from the state under this initiative.

Recently, the Ministry of School Education initiated the admission process for 25 % of reserved seats under the RTE, following an order from the Bombay High Court. Parents were initially given a deadline of Friday (31st May) to complete their child’s online application. However, the Director of School Education, Sharad Gosavi, has announced an extension of the enrollment deadline until Tuesday.

Key Points for Parents:

1. Verify your complete residential address and Google location when filling out the application form.
2. Only apply when you are certain that all details are correct.
3. Ensure the date of birth on the birth certificate matches the application form.
4. When selecting schools within one to three kilometres, choose a maximum of ten schools.
5. Have all necessary documents ready during the application process, as admission may be cancelled if documents are unavailable after the lottery is conducted.
6. Avoid submitting duplicate applications for the same child, as both applications will be rejected if found.
