Pimpri Chinchwad: Cloth Sellers Busted for Selling Counterfeit Branded Clothes

Pimpri, 31st May 2024: Action has been taken against two cloth sellers in Pimpri Chinchwad for using branded logos on duplicate clothes. Police seized clothes worth more than Rs 10 lakh during the operation conducted in three shops in Pimpri Camp on Thursday (30th May).

Mahesh Vishnu Kamble (41), a resident of Shivajinagar, filed a complaint at Pimpri Police Station. Pimpri Police have registered a case against Sanjay Chandrakant Bhojwani (29), a resident of Kalewadi, and Sanju Dilip Bastani (24), a resident of Pimpri.

According to police reports, two cloth sellers in Pimpri Camp were found selling duplicate clothes with branded logos, which came to the attention of the respective brand’s representatives. Upon receiving the complaint, Pimpri Police took action against Shiv Garments and Sanjay Tradelink shops in Pimpri Camp. The branded company’s logo was being used without permission, leading to the seizure of clothes worth Rs 10,31,400.

Pimpri Police have registered a case against both accused under the relevant sections of the Copyright Act of 1957. Senior Police Inspector Ashok Kadlag from Pimpri Police Station is further investigating the matter.
