Pune: Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College Hosts ACINUS 2024 Conference on Respiratory Diseases and Critical Care

Pune, May 30, 2024: Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College, Hospital & Research Centre, Pimpri, Pune, in collaboration with the Department of Respiratory Medicine and under the aegis of the Indian Chest Society, hosted ‘ACINUS 2024,’ a three-day annual conference from May 23rd to May 25th.

The conference, themed ‘Masterclass by the Experts,’ featured eminent speakers from India’s top colleges and institutes. They covered a wide range of topics including Tuberculosis, Lung Transplantation, Pulmonary Infections, and Critical Care. The event served as a significant platform for knowledge exchange and professional development in respiratory medicine.

Padma Bhushan Awardee, Dr. Farokh E. Udwadia, Physician and Intensivist, graced the event as the Chief Guest. He remarked, “ACINUS 2024 has been an eye-opening experience. The depth of knowledge and innovative approaches shared by leading experts will truly pave the way for advancements in patient care. It’s inspiring to see the commitment of the institute, and such collaborations will enhance the quality of life for individuals affected by these conditions.”

Dr. Yashraj Patil, Trustee and Treasurer of Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, highlighted the importance of academic-industry partnerships. He stated, “The collaboration and exchange of ideas will lead to significant advancements in critical patient care and medical research. Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College has once again demonstrated its commitment to excellence, and we look forward to organizing this event with the same enthusiasm next year.”

Dr. J. S. Bhawalkar, Dean of Dr. D. Y. Patil Medical College, emphasized the importance of such gatherings. “We are honored to host ACINUS 2024. This event is a significant opportunity for leading experts, clinicians, and researchers to share the latest advancements and best practices in these critical areas of healthcare,” he said.

Dr. M. S. Barthwal, Professor and HOD of Respiratory Medicine, echoed the sentiment, stating, “Organizing such a massive event is a collaborative effort. Our scientific program focused on practical clinical problems from an Indian perspective, with ample time for deliberations. We selected speakers who are not only masters in their fields but also experts in delivering education effectively.”

Notable speakers included Dr. S K Jindal, Former Professor and HOD, Pulmonary Medicine, PGI Chandigarh, and Dr. Ravinder Sarnaik, an alumnus of PGI Chandigarh and President of the Indian Chest Society.

The event was attended by prominent leaders including Dr. Bhagyashree P. Patil, Pro-Chancellor of Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pune; Dr. N. J. Pawar, Vice Chancellor of Dr. D. Y. Patil Vidyapeeth, Pune; Dr. Smita Jadhav, Trustee of Dr. D.Y. Patil Vidyapeeth Society, Pune; Dr. Yashraj Patil, Treasurer of Dr. D. Y. The conference focused on emerging technologies, cutting-edge treatments for respiratory diseases, innovations in critical care, and advancements in sleep medicine. ACINUS 2024 also featured an intercollegiate quiz competition held over all three days.
