Pune Police To Review Porsche Footage In Kalyani Nagar Accident Case
Yerwada, 23rd May 2024: Pune police are intensifying their investigation into the tragic incident involving a minor driver who caused the deaths of two IT engineers while driving a luxury Porsche at speeds ranging from 150 to 160 kilometers per hour, while allegedly under the influence of alcohol. The focus of the inquiry now shifts to questioning the accused minor and scrutinizing the camera footage from the Porsche car involved in the fatal crash.
Modern vehicles, including the Porsche in question, are equipped with front and rear cameras that capture road movements. Accordingly, investigators are keen to examine this footage to reconstruct the events leading up to the high-speed collision.
Additional Commissioner of Police (East Region), Manoj Patil, highlighted the importance of this footage, stating that it could provide crucial insights into the circumstances surrounding the accident.
The minor accused reportedly left his residence late Saturday night, accompanied by a driver. The fatal accident occurred around 2:30 am on Sunday while returning from two pubs, with the minor detained by police shortly after. Statements from the minor, his friends, and the driver have been recorded, shedding light on the events leading up to the tragedy.
According to police, the accused minor’s father, Vishal Agarwal, instructed the driver to take the boy to attend a party. The driver allegedly confirmed receiving instructions to hand over the car to the minor if requested, while he remained on the sidelines.
The sequence of events leading up to the accident includes visits to the ‘Cosie’ and ‘Blak club at Marriott Suites’ pubs, with the minor behind the wheel until they departed from the latter establishment. Witnesses indicate that the minor continued to exceed speed limits, ultimately leading to the fatal collision near Landmark Garden society on Kalyani Nagar – Airport road. The car hit a bike from behind resulting in the deaths of IT professionals Aneesh Awadhiya (24) and Ashwini Koshta (24), both natives of Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh.
The examination of the Porsche’s onboard recordings is expected to provide critical insights into the accident’s dynamics. Additionally, investigators are seizing and analyzing the minor’s mobile phone to gather further evidence, including photos, videos, WhatsApp communications, and call details.
