Pune: Porsche Crash Near Pub Kills Two Including Woman In Kalyaninagar

Kalyani Nagar, 19th May 2024: A young man and a young woman lost their lives in an accident in Kalyaninagar, Pune. The incident occurred around 3:15 a.m. when the minor driver crashed a Porsche into a motorcycle and other vehicles.

Police said that the minor driver is 17 years and eight months old. He had left a pub shortly before the accident.

The deceased persons have been identified as Ashwini Koshta (24), a native of Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh, and Aneesh Awadhiya (24) from Pali in Madhya Pradesh. Earlier, both worked in the same IT company in Kharadi.

Aneesh completed his Bachelor of Engineering (BE) from a college in Lohegaon and subsequently began working at an IT company in Kharadi. He had been living in Pune for the past seven years. Driven by a desire to pursue postgraduate studies abroad, he worked diligently and secured admission to a foreign university. Aneesh’s father operates a printing press in Jabalpur, and his younger brother is currently studying for his BE at the same college where Aneesh graduated.

Aneesh’s cousin shared, “I had gone to Nashik with my family on Saturday and we wanted Aneesh to join us, but he preferred to stay in the city.”

Koshta’s parents and brother arrived from Jabalpur on Sunday afternoon.

Ashwini, who pursued her BE in Computer Science from a college in Pune, initially worked with an IT company in the city. She was currently working from home and had planned to take leave next month to visit Jabalpur.

DCP (Zone 4) Vijay Kumar Magar informed that an accident occurred in the Kalyani Nagar area of Pune City last night, resulting in the deaths of a bike rider and their pillion passenger. The accident involved a speeding Porsche car, which hit the motorcycle from behind. The driver of the car has been nabbed, and an FIR has been registered.

Based on a complaint by Aqib Ramzan Mulla (24), a native of Solapur district, who resides in Chandannagar, Yerwada police station has registered an FIR against the minor accused.

According to the FIR, the incident took place at 3:15 am on Sunday. The victims were part of a group of friends returning home on motorcycles after a party at a club, Ballr, in Kalyani Nagar. As they reached the Kalyani Nagar junction, the speeding luxury car, without registration number, struck their Bajaj Pulser bike, causing both riders to fall and die instantly. The car then collided with roadside pavement railings.

The police have charged Agarwal with rash and negligent driving, as well as causing harm by endangering the life or personal safety of others, under IPC Sections 304A, 279, 337, 338, 427, and relevant sections of the Maharashtra Motor Vehicle Act. 

Video footage of the accident shows a group of people assaulting the driver as he tried to exit his wrecked car. 

Assistant Police Inspector Vishwanath Todkari is further investigating the case.
