Road Rage: Drunk Youth Vandalizes Vehicles, Assaults Driver in Chakan

Chakan, 15th May 2024: On a dry day, a drunken youth vandalized two vehicles and assaulted a person who had overtaken him. He hurled abuses and issued life-threatening threats. Pimpri Chinchwad Police have filed a case regarding the incident, which occurred on Sunday (12th May), at 10:45 PM at Mutkewadi Chowk in Chakan.

Police Constable Ganesh Wadekar complained to the Chakan Police Station. A case has been registered against Ganesh Dilip Rathod, aged 26 and a resident of Chakan.

According to police, the accused, Wadekar, vandalized two cars at Mutkewadi Chowk in Chakan at night. He also assaulted and verbally abused car driver Atish Sahebrao Ahankare, aged 30 and a resident of Medankarwadi, questioning why he overtook. Furthermore, he issued death threats to Atish. The incident occurred on a dry day due to elections, yet the accused, Wadekar, was intoxicated.

Chakan Police have registered a case against the accused, Wadekar, under IPC Sections 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation), 427 (mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees) and relevant sections of Maharashtra Police Act of 1951 and Maharashtra Prohibition Act of 1949. Assistant Police Sub-Inspector Burud from Chakan Police Station is conducting further investigations into the matter.
