Disgruntled Husband’s False Bomb Threat Sends Pune Police On Wild Goose Chase

Pune, 14th May 2024: A call was received by the Pune Police control room, alarming authorities of potential bomb blasts in Pune City during Lok Sabha polling. This threatening phone call prompted an immediate response from the police, who swiftly launched an investigation.

It was discovered that the call originated from a disgruntled husband. Fueled by anger because his wife was staying away from their marital home, he dialled the control room in a fit of rage. A case was filed against him for falsely alarming the police control room.

The sequence of events unfolded as follows: Following an argument with his wife, who subsequently sought refuge at her parent’s house, the husband, frustrated by her absence, placed the threatening call to the Pune Police control room on Monday (13th May) afternoon. He menacingly warned of bomb blasts at seven locations across the city, setting off a flurry of police activity.

In response, the police sprang into action, initiating a thorough investigation and disseminating the information to all relevant law enforcement personnel. Those engaged in polling arrangements were particularly vigilant. Through technical analysis, the identity of the caller was swiftly uncovered.
