Pune: Central Railway Tops Nationwide in Curbing Ticketless Travel, Earns Rs.300 Crores

Pune, 5th April 2024: Central Railway has achieved the top position among all railway zones in cracking down on ticketless travel, reporting a remarkable 46.26 lakh cases of irregular travel and unbooked luggage during the fiscal year 2023-24. This effort has resulted in revenue earnings of Rs.300 crores, surpassing the set target by 12.80%. The Mumbai division led the way, generating Rs.115.29 crore from 20.56 lakh cases, followed by Bhusaval with Rs.66.33 crore from 8.34 lakh cases.

Among the standout contributors were Sunil Nainani, a Travelling Ticket Inspector in Mumbai, who collected an impressive Rs.1.92 crore from 20,117 cases, and Rupali Malve, a Woman Senior Ticket Examiner in Pune, who secured Rs.1.31 crore from 15,015 cases.
