Pune, 27th March 2024: On March 6, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Regional Transport Officer’s (RTO) office conducted an e-auction of impounded vehicles that had defaulted on motor vehicle taxes and were seized for various violations under the Motor Vehicle Act. The auction witnessed the sale of 11 vehicles, including buses, heavy goods vehicles, light goods vehicles, delivery vans, tourist taxis, and excavators, fetching a total revenue of ₹38.90 lakh in a single day.

These vehicles, totaling 13 in number, had been impounded due to unpaid taxes and violations. Despite repeated notices, the owners failed to clear their dues, leading to the decision for an e-auction conducted through the official website www.eauction.gov.in. Out of the 13 vehicles listed, 11 received online bids during the auction, resulting in the collection of revenue as per the bids.

The Pimpri-Chinchwad Regional Transport Office has been proactive in recovering government revenues through public e-auctions, amassing a total of ₹1.48 crore from 2021 to March 2024.

Deputy RTO Atul Ade emphasized the importance of clearing motor vehicle tax arrears and warned that further e-auctions would be conducted to recover outstanding dues.
