Ajit Pawar Chairs NCP Meeting in Pune: Seven Constituencies Under Consideration
Pune, 27th March 2024: Ahead of the impending Lok Sabha elections, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) convened a meeting in Pune, where discussions were held regarding seat allocation within the Mahayuti coalition. Although the formal announcement is pending, indications suggest that seven constituencies, including Baramati, Shirur, Satara, Dharashiv, Nashik, Raigad, and Parbhani, were under consideration.
Chaired by NCP President and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, the meeting was attended by prominent party leaders such as NCP Maharashtra State President Sunil Tatkare and Minister of Agriculture of Maharashtra Dhananjay Munde. Ajit Pawar clarified that while there were discussions on seven constituencies, four seats are likely to be contested, with further announcements expected on Thursday (28th March).
Specifically addressing the discussion on the Nashik constituency, Ajit Pawar acknowledged NCP leader Chhagan Bhujbal’s interest in contesting from the region, emphasizing the party’s commitment to democratic principles and internal dialogue to resolve any disagreements within the coalition.
Dispelling misconceptions, Ajit Pawar affirmed that the seat allocation process is nearly complete, with NCP set to receive the expected number of seats. He reiterated the coalition’s unity and coordination efforts, stating that each NCP minister and MLA will be entrusted with specific constituencies to ensure effective campaign management and coordination with other coalition members.
The formal announcement of seat allotments and NCP candidates is scheduled to take place in Mumbai on Thursday. Ajit Pawar underscored the collaborative approach within the Mahayuti coalition, highlighting the collective effort in negotiating seat allocations to optimize electoral prospects.
