Pune: Young NDA Employee Loses Rs 57.22 Lakh in Stock Market Investment Scam

Pune, 26th March 2024: A cybercrime incident has emerged where a young employee of the National Defence Academy (NDA) fell victim to deception, losing a staggering Rs 57.22 lakh.

The victim, a resident of Uttam Nagar, complained to the local police, detailing how he was enticed into investing in the stock market by cyber crooks. Initially, the perpetrators initiated contact via messages, gradually drawing the victim into their scheme and eventually adding him to a social media group.

Initially, the victim invested a modest sum, only to receive a substantial return of Rs 2.5 lakh from the fraudsters, instilling confidence in their credibility. Encouraged by this apparent success, the victim continued to deposit funds totalling Rs 57.22 lakh into the criminals’ accounts through online transactions.

However, upon realizing the extent of the deception, the victim reported the incident to the police. Senior Police Inspector Shaikh has taken charge of the investigation into this case of financial fraud.
