Pune: Financial Distress Suspected in Thergaon Tragedy: Father Kills Daughter, Commits Suicide

Wakad, 19th March 2024: A shocking incident unfolded in Guru Nanak Nagar, Thergaon, as a father took the lives of his eight-year-old daughter and himself. The incident, believed to be prompted by financial distress, came to light on Tuesday (19th March) early morning.

The young victim, Nandini Bhausaheb Bedre (8), lost her life at the hands of her father, Bhausaheb Bhanudar Bedre (45), who took his own life. According to police reports, Bhausaheb’s wife had left for the village for a brief period, prompting her to call him around four in the morning, requesting his presence to pick her up. However, Bhausaheb failed to respond, compelling his wife to return home on her own.

Upon her arrival, she was greeted by their 14-year-old son, who informed her that his father was inside the house. Distressed by her husband’s absence, she searched the house and made a devastating discovery – Bhausaheb had taken his own life by hanging himself. She also found her beloved daughter Nandini lifeless, having been killed.

The scene prompted immediate intervention from concerned citizens, who promptly notified the Wakad Police. Upon arrival, authorities swiftly secured the area and initiated proceedings, sending both bodies for post-mortem examination. Bhausaheb, who undertook small-scale construction contracts, left behind a letter detailing his anguish over financial difficulties.
