Pune: Major Drug Bust in Sangvi: Five Arrested, Illicit Substances Worth Rs 20,89,500 Seized

Pimpri Chinchwad, 19th March 2024: The Anti-Narcotics Cell of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Crime Branch conducted a significant operation in Sangvi, resulting in the arrest of five individuals and the seizure of illicit substances worth Rs 20,89,500. The operation, executed near the Sangvi Crematorium around midnight on Sunday (17th) morning, led to the confiscation of 7.2 kg of Ganja (Marijuana), 175 grams of Charas, and 12 Lysergic Acid Diethylamide (LSD) dot papers, among other materials.

Those apprehended include Omkar alias Sonya Mahadev Linge (26), Aniket Anil Godambe (25), Rohan Uttam Kamble (21), Rupesh Gautam Jadhav (21), and Rohan alias Papaya Mahadev Linge (24), all hailing from Dapodi. Additionally, a case has been registered against individuals identified as Vishal alias Mahadya Gorakh Kadam, Sainani, Harsh, and Mayur Praveen Barathe, whose full names remain undisclosed.

Acting on received intelligence, the Anti-Narcotics Cell detained these individuals after learning of suspicious activities involving the transportation of ganja near the Sangvi crematorium. 7.2 kg of ganja valued at Rs 3,60,000, 175 grams of Charas worth Rs 4,37,500, and 12 LSD dot papers valued at Rs 1,80,000 were seized from their possession. Additionally, six mobile phones, one car, and three two-wheelers, amounting to Rs 20,89,500 in total, were confiscated.

Mayur Barathe, who was among the arrested individuals, is currently absconding. Vishal Kadam facilitated the transportation of Ganja to the suspects, while the Charas were procured from Madhya Pradesh by an individual named Sainani. Further investigation revealed that Harsh, a resident of Baner, was responsible for bringing the LSD papers. The Sangvi police are actively pursuing the investigation.
