Abhay Singh Claims Second PSA Challenger Title at Goodfellow Classic 2024 Squash Tournament

Pune, 25 Feb 2024: Abhay Singh, the top seed at the Goodfellow Classic 2024 squash tournament in Toronto, Canada, emerged victorious in the men’s singles competition, defeating Wales’ Elliott Morris Devred in the final with a commanding 3-0 victory (11-7, 11-9, 11-9).
The PSA Challenger Tour event, featuring only men’s singles, showcased Abhay Singh’s exceptional form as he secured his second PSA Challenger win of the season. Previously, Abhay clinched the men’s singles title at the Willingdon Little Masters and Senior Tournament in Mumbai.
In the path to his triumph, Abhay Singh demonstrated his prowess by defeating opponents with convincing performances. He received a bye in the first round and proceeded to defeat Elliot Hunt of Canada 3-0 (11-6, 11-3, 11-9) in the second round. Abhay continued his winning streak by overcoming France’s Maceo Levy and Egypt’s Abdelrahman Abdelkhalek in the quarter-finals and semi-finals, respectively.
The 25-year-old Indian squash player showcased remarkable skill and composure throughout the tournament, culminating in a flawless performance in the final against Devred.
Abhay Singh gained prominence following his pivotal role in the Indian men’s team’s historic gold medal victory against Pakistan at the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou. He also secured the mixed doubles bronze alongside Anahat Singh.
Following his triumph at the Goodfellow Classic, Abhay Singh sets his sights on the Canadian Men’s Open in Calgary, commencing on March 3, as he continues to make waves in the world of squash.
