Central Railway Set for Major Upgrade: 36 Stations, Including 10 From Pune Division, to Undergo Revitalization

Pune, 22nd February 2024: The upcoming Amrit Bharat Station Scheme is set to revolutionize rail travel across Central Railway, encompassing 36 stations, including 10 in Pune Division. On February 26, 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lay the Foundation Stone for the transformation of 554 stations, marking a significant investment of over Rs. 2274 crore.

Under this visionary initiative, 1309 railway stations nationwide will undergo revitalization, turning them into modern terminals with top-notch amenities. The focus is on ensuring a comfortable, convenient, and enjoyable travel experience for every railway passenger.

The Amrit Bharat Station Scheme unfolds with a long-term vision, aiming for continuous development of stations. Maharashtra has secured a record allocation of Rs. 15554 crore in this year’s budget, with plans to develop 56 world-class railway stations under the scheme. Notably, 36 of these stations are situated on Central Railway, including 10 in the Pune Division, promising a massive transformation and redevelopment.

The selected Pune Division stations undergoing redevelopment include Dehu Road, Chinchwad, Hadapsar, Uruli, Kedgaon, Baramati, Lonand, Wathar, Karad, and Sangli. This initiative signifies a significant step towards enhancing passenger experience and modernizing railway infrastructure in the region.
