Pune: Kondhwa Police Nab Three Individuals With Criminal Records, Seize Two Pistols and Six Live Cartridges

Kondhwa, 19th February 2024: Pune City Police have arrested three individuals with a criminal record. Two pistols and six live cartridges, along with a Chevrolet car valued at Rs 2 Lakh 78 Thousand, were confiscated from the arrested suspects.

This operation took place on Saturday (17th February) at approximately seven in the evening at Hotel Garwa Hills on the road leading to Bopdev Ghat.

The individuals taken into custody have been identified as Prafulla Nivritti Nikam (41 years old, residing in Karad, Satara), Simon Romeo Mirinda (25 years old, Thane West), and Sameer Bhagwan Sankpal (25 years old, Karad, Satara). A case under the Arms Act and Maharashtra Police Act has been filed against the accused at Kondhwa Police Station.

Assistant Police Inspector Dinesh Kumar Patil and Police Constable Vishal Memane from the Detection Branch (DB) of Kondhwa Police Station received intel that three individuals were planning to have dinner in a white four-wheeler at Hotel Garwa Hills on the road leading to Bopdev Ghat, and they had a pistol. Upon verification, it was confirmed that the suspected vehicle had been halted near a society compound a short distance ahead of the hotel, with the three individuals engaged in conversation near the car.

The police set up a trap and apprehended the individuals. Upon conducting a search, an iron pistol and three live cartridges were discovered on Prafulla Nikam’s person. Similarly, Simon was found in possession of a country-made iron pistol and three live cartridges. The police seized two pistols and six live cartridges valued at Rs 1,03,000 from the accused. Additionally, the car used in the commission of the crime was confiscated. Prafulla Nikam, an experienced offender, has five cases registered against him in Patan, Karad, and Kasarwadi police stations. Simon has a case registered against him in Naupada Police Station. Further investigation is being conducted by Police Constable Satish Chavan.

This operation was conducted under the guidance of Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar, Joint Commissioner of Police Pravin Pawar, Additional Commissioner of Police (East Region) Manoj Patil, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 5) R Raja, Assistant Commissioner of Police Ganesh Ingle, Senior Police Inspector Santosh Sonwane, and Police Inspector Crime Mansingh Patil.

The detection branch, led by Assistant Police Inspector Lekhaji Shinde, comprised Police Constable Vishal Memane, Satish Chavan, Lavesh Shinde, Shahid Sheikh, Laxman Holkar, Santosh Bansude, Sujit Madan, and Suraj Shukla.
