Pune: Brutal Attack on PCMC Contractor: Nigdi Incident Leads to Arrests and Ongoing Investigation

Nigdi, 19th February 2024: A contractor associated with the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) was subjected to severe assault after filing a complaint with the police. The incident occurred on Sunday (18) at 8:15 am in Ota Scheme, Nigdi.

The contractor who was assaulted has been identified as Nafees Salim Shaikh, aged 42 and a resident of Ota Scheme, Nigdi. He has filed a complaint at Nigdi Police Station regarding the incident. In response, a case has been registered against individuals identified as Arbaz Sheikh, Munna alias Faiyaz Sheikh, Kalwa alias Sarfraz Sheikh, and Riyaz Sheikh.

According to the police account, all the accused gathered in front of the complainant Shaikh’s house on Sunday morning, engaging in loud verbal abuse. In response, Shaikh stepped out of his house and inquired about the source of the verbal assault. The accused confronted Shaikh, questioning why he had filed a complaint against them at the Nigdi Police Station.

This verbal exchange escalated into a violent confrontation, with the accused using stones, iron cutters, sticks, and their hands to brutally beat Shaikh. The police have arrested four individuals, and Nigdi Police are investigating the matter further.
