Pune: Gambling Den Raided Near Lonavala, 10 Persons Detained and Goods Worth Rs 12 Lakhs Confiscated

Kamshet, 18th February 2024: Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Satyasai Karthik, heading the Lonavala sub-division under Pune rural police, conducted a raid on a gambling den in Kamshet. The operation, part of a series of legal actions against illicit businesses, resulted in the detention of ten individuals and the confiscation of goods amounting to twelve lakhs, including cash.

 

ASP Karthik initiated the raid after receiving information through an undercover informant about the operation of an illegal gambling den in a locked room near Nane Railway Gate at Khadkale in Kamshet Police Station limits. The undercover informant reported that the unlawful activities were negatively impacting the local community.

 

Today, ASP Karthik dispatched his team to the location based on the received information. The team conducted a successful raid on the locked room situated on private property near Nane Railway Gate, belonging to Balkrishna Shantaram Shinde. Ten individuals, including gambling agents and gamblers, were detained during the operation.

 

A substantial amount of Rs 11,43,470 in cash, along with cars and mobile phones, was seized from the individuals involved in the illegal gambling activities. A case has been registered against the ten individuals under various sections of the Maharashtra Prevention of Gambling Act of 1887 at Kamshet Police Station. The complaint was filed by Police Constable Rahis Mulani. Police Sub Inspector Shubham Chavan of Kamshet Police Station is conducting further investigations.

 

The successful operation was carried out under the guidance of Superintendent of Police (Pune rural) Pankaj Deshmukh, Additional SP (Pune division) Ramesh Chopade and ASP Satyasai Karthik. The team included Assistant Police Inspector Sachin Raul, Sub Inspector Shubham Chavan, Police Constable Nitesh (Bunty) Kawade, and Rahis Mulani.
