New Delhi, 13th February 2024: In a groundbreaking announcement today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi introduced the “PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana,” a transformative rooftop solar scheme aimed at providing free electricity to households across the nation.

Taking to his official platform, the Prime Minister conveyed his vision:

“To enhance sustainable development and the well-being of our citizens, we are launching the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana. This ambitious initiative, backed by an investment exceeding Rs. 75,000 crores, is designed to illuminate 1 crore households, offering up to 300 units of free electricity every month.”

The Prime Minister highlighted the comprehensive support the government plans to provide:

“Substantial subsidies, directly deposited into people’s bank accounts, and heavily concessional bank loans are part of the Central Government’s commitment to ensuring zero financial burden on the public. A National Online Portal will integrate all stakeholders, enhancing accessibility and convenience.”

“To foster widespread adoption at the grassroots level, Urban Local Bodies and Panchayats will receive incentives to promote rooftop solar systems within their jurisdictions. This initiative is expected to result in increased income, reduced power bills, and job creation.”

“Let’s propel solar power and sustainable progress. I urge all residential consumers, especially the youth, to strengthen the PM – Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana by applying at pmsuryaghar.gov.in.”
